Understand the settings

PDF files can contain more than printed-looking pages: forms, signatures, embedded files, JavaScript, annotations and bookmarks are possible. This toolkit is for ordinary static page content. It creates a new document and omits page annotations and interactive actions; it does not promise to preserve forms, signatures, accessibility tags or a complex reading order.

Merge combines the selected files in the order displayed on the page. Browser file pickers can order selections differently from your clicks, so inspect the displayed list before processing. Extract copies selected pages into a new PDF in the order you specify. Split creates a ZIP containing one PDF per selected page. Rotate retains the original document order and rotates only the selected pages.

Page numbers start at 1 and refer to physical pages in the file, not a printed label such as “iv” or “12.” A range is inclusive. The expression 1-3,5 selects pages one, two, three and five. Use 5,1-3 to move page five first. Repeated page numbers intentionally repeat a page during extraction.

Step by step

  1. Select up to eight PDFs for merge, or exactly one for another operation.
  2. Choose the operation. Enter page numbers if extracting, splitting or rotating only part of the document.
  3. For rotate, choose a clockwise angle. Blank page selection means all pages.
  4. Process, download and open the result. Check page count, orientation and visible content against the originals.

Extract a cover and an appendix

A ten-page document needs only its cover and final two pages. Choose Extract and enter 1,9-10. The downloaded PDF should have three pages in that order. To keep all ten pages but fix a sideways appendix, choose Rotate and enter 9-10 instead.

Limits and what to check

Troubleshooting

A form or signature disappeared

Interactive content is outside this tool’s supported scope. Use the original document and software designed to preserve or validate those features.

The page numbers seem wrong

Count pages from the first page of the file, including covers and unnumbered inserts. Printed page labels may differ.

A valid-looking PDF fails

The parser is strict and the job is time/memory bounded. Try re-exporting the PDF from its original application.
